Some of you may know me, some of you may not, but I’m Steve (Lawro) and I played for the City of Portsmouth 4th XI last season, and will be taking over captaincy this season. I have found the team to be an accessible and rewarding team to play for, in terms of boosting basic skills, and meeting new players. We did not have a bad season last year, but are aiming to improve on certain flaws for this season, particularly in ensuring that we have a base squad that will turn up to each game, which will help us both performance-wise and socially. With varying amounts of attending players from 7 to 20 at some matches, this is the key area that needs to be assessed before we head further. We will again be looking to bring university students into the club, to ensure that fresh talent is utilised, with the 4th XI also acting as a bridge for more experienced students to higher teams.
