Juniors
Then come along to a training session with City of Portsmouth Hockey Club. Bring your friends with you for more fun. We welcome all abilities, from complete beginner to the experienced player.
Why should you join our club? What benefits do we offer? Why not join another hockey club?Firstly, we offer a safe, friendly environment where you will be encouraged to extend your skills and abilities by qualified and enthusiastic coaches. Training will be structured so that everyone will be able to improve and enjoy this excellent game. Everyone will be encouraged to set high standards of effort, control, self-awareness and confidence to improve and to be the best that they are capable of.
In the past we have produced players who have gone on to play regularly for our senior sides and enjoy hockey as a recreational sport for the rest of their lives. Others have had greater ambitions and have gone on to represent their county, division and country.
The club offers training and matches for everyone from six to veterans of all abilities. Training takes place at:
Portsmouth University campus,
Furze lane (bottom of Locksway Road)
The University pitches are due to be re-laid at this time and players are reminded that Saturday training will be at the Mountbatten Centre from 4th September to 6th November 2010.
Beginners and those up to 12 years of age – Saturdays from 0900 – 1030.
12 years and over - Wednesday s from 1930 – 2100.
Junior matches are usually played on a Sunday morning.
We supply sticks and balls, so all you need are trainers, shin pads, drinking water and a willingness to get involved and try it.
